Rainbow Walk

Updated: Oct 24

Lismore City Council held a recent onsite meeting with the project Steering Group to walk through the construction of the Nimbin Rainbow Walk. The Steering Group, consisting of key Nimbin community groups and stakeholders, was excited to see the progress and the vision coming to life, with completion on track for late 2024.

The inspection provided an opportunity to review park furniture, wayfinding signage, planting, and landscaping, as well as to decide the future of existing structures along and near the track.

It was decided that, where possible, plantings would be preferred over turfing. A meeting between the bush regenerator and the Nimbin Community Centre will take place later this month to discuss opportunities for identifying revegetation areas and landscaping.

Key stakeholders will also participate in an upcoming workshop to walk through the site to discuss artwork and wording for wayfinding signage, now that designs have been finalised.

Several items were proposed to improve public amenities, such as additional shade, seating, fencing and improved accessibility. These will be considered based on quotations and budget.

To stay up to date on the project, access design plans, explore frequently asked questions, or find out more, please visit Your Say Lismore and go to the Nimbin Rainbow Walk page.

Council wishes to thank the Nimbin Community, Nimbin Community Centre, Nimbin Chamber of Commerce and private landowners for making this project possible and for their continued support throughout construction.

This project is fully funded under the NSW and Federal Government Bushfire Local Economies Fund.
